Euro 4 Diesel Standard Is Mandatory, How to Take Care of Car Engines to Last? Check out these tips

These tips are specifically for Toyota cars with diesel engines.

Since April 2022, all Toyota cars with diesel engines marketed in Indonesia have met the Euro 4 emission standard. The higher the Euro standard, the lower the exhaust gas content.

Based on information from Auto2000, Toyota diesel engines in Indonesia are equipped with technologies such as variable turbo, common-rail , and intercooler , which make the engine environmentally friendly.

However, consumers also have to take good care of the diesel engine so that it can work optimally and perform excellently. Here are 7 tips to keep a diesel engine working optimally:

1. Use Appropriate Fuel

Improper fuel will have a large negative impact on the vehicle. High sulfur content will disrupt the fuel distribution system, decrease engine performance, and reduce engine life. The cetane level must also match the needs of the engine in order to deliver the best power.

2. Check the Solar Filter

The optimal performance of the diesel fuel filter or diesel filter ensures that impurities will not escape into the fuel injection system. There is a warning light on the instrument panel of the car that lights up when the diesel filter is dirty. Do not delay and immediately replace with a new diesel filter.

3. Clean the Air Filter

The air filter is in charge of filtering the air that enters the combustion chamber. Clean air can make engine performance maintained and use fuel more efficiently. In addition, of course, it reduces the appearance of scale on moving components and reduces the risk of the diesel injection system being clogged with dirt.

4. Pay Attention to Water Sedimentary

The water sedimenter serves to capture the water content in the fuel line, so it doesn't flow into the engine so it doesn't interfere with engine performance and prevents the risk of rusting. Immediately drain the water sedimenter when the water sedimenter indicator light on the instrument panel lights up because the water is full.

5. Warm up the engine before running and wait a moment before turning it off

It doesn't take long, just start the engine for about 1 minute to make sure the lubricant has moved evenly to lubricate all engine components before the car starts.

Leave the engine running or idle for 1 minute before turning off the engine, to temporarily cool engine components that work under extreme conditions, especially the turbo.

6. Check and Change Engine Oil

Check the engine oil level via the dipstick to make sure it doesn't decrease. Change the diesel engine oil every 6 months, so that the oil condition is always maintained. Make sure to use TMO diesel engine oil to match the specifications of cars circulating in Indonesia.
