This Rp 36 Million Salary Employee is Frustrated Because His Job Is Too Light, Is It Better To Resign?

It is undeniable, a large salary and light work may be the dream of many job seekers.

But a worker in Singapore is different. He posted about his current job and wanted to quit because he was too relaxed in his office.

On 26 May 2022, this man named Kenji Ong wrote a post to a Singapore Facebook group to lament his current job, which earns him S$3,400 per month (Rp 36 million).

In his post, he wants to resign because he has almost nothing important to do every day.

Ong was frustrated that he had to go to the office just to turn on his computer and handle 20 to 30 emails before calling him.

That frustration became even more intolerable after his company started asking employees to return to the office again, following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions across the country.

"When I work from home, I can get my work done in two to three hours, then do more of my own things, so it becomes easy to spend time at home," he said in the post.

But after the pandemic subsided, he is now forced to return to the office.

She complains that it's harder to spend time at home, because her boss is sitting right behind her.

Even though his current work routine makes him just pretend to type in Microsoft Excel almost all day, then come home at 17.30 exactly.

Even some of his colleagues also experienced the same difficulty. Some of his friends repeatedly looked at his email, daydreamed, or spent more time in the bathroom.

Overall, the work is relatively comfortable and hassle-free.

However, in the months since returning to the office he had the feeling that something was "missing".

It made him tired and lethargic, after having to spend his working days in such a manner.

"Pretending to be busy when there's nothing to do is unbearable," said Ong.

"Sometimes I really want to scream 'Aaah! I'm so bored!'."

Not surprisingly, his posts are widely liked and commented on, with many opinions about the condition he faces.

Some commentators say that Ong is not aware of how he is currently doing with his job.

Ong is said to have only realized it after getting into a job that left him no time to laze or relax.

"You've never had a job where you didn't even have time to eat or sleep," one person said.

While others ask him to change positions, as they yearn for the slow life.

Others empathize with him, and agree that he should resign if he is dissatisfied with his current position.

"Leave your comfort zone and find a more challenging job," said one commenter. "This will be better for your future in the long run."

Ong's situation seems quite strange considering Singapore's reputation as a country that is generally known for being overworked.

In this island nation, the condition of a person feeling dissatisfied with his job because he doesn't have much work is bound to be an oddity, although it should not be dismissed as a real problem for the individual who experiences it.

Will Ong be able to find happiness in his next decision, will he stay in his current position or move to another job altogether?

What do you think if you face a situation like this?
