New Indent Car, Mobil88 Takes Advantage of Scarcity of Chips to Boost Sales

Mobil88 noted that the company's used car sales from January to April increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year.

The scarcity microchips or semiconductors as one of the main ingredients for new cars has an impact on their production. This is also used by Mobil88 to boost sales of used cars .

"Instead of waiting for a new car, it's better to buy a used car that is of good quality. This will automatically have an impact on sales," said Mobil88 President Director Naga Sujady in Jakarta, Tuesday (31/5/2022).

Mobil88 noted that the company's used car sales from January to April increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year.

Naga explained that the highest sales occurred in the last April period. During this period, the government allowed people to go home, which had an impact on used car sales.

Throughout this year, Naga said that Mobil88 is targeting growth to be in the double digits, namely 15 percent to 20 percent.

He was sure it could be pursued. Optimism can be seen from the loosening of restrictions on community mobility and the increasingly controlled spread of Covid-19.

"In the future, talking about trends, sales should continue to grow. Macroeconomics will push in that direction. Hopefully the economic growth will be maintained," he explained.

Previously, Mobil88 Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sutadi also expressed similar optimism. The reason is the influence of manufacturers who have difficulty producing new cars due to the scarcity of microchips. In fact, the economy is recovering which causes a demand for vehicles.

"Some customers have turned to looking for used cars due to operational needs," he said last week.
