This is the Navya Arma Spec, an Autonomous Electric Car Made in Japan Tried in BSD City

The electric car that was tested as a means of transportation in BSD City, was named Navya Arma. Here are the specs of the car.

Sinar Mas Land and Mitsubishi Corp. officially conducted a trial of autonomous electric vehicles in BSD City on May 20, 2022, exactly according to the plan that both of them had rolled out.

The inauguration of the autonomous electric vehicle trial was attended by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority Bambang Susantono and a number of other officials at Q Big BSD, Friday (20/05/2022).

Sinar Mas Land's Chief Digital Tech Ecosystem & Development Irawan Harahap stated that BSD City is ready to support the electric vehicle ecosystem.

"To become a leading smart city, we are preparing BSD City to be responsive to various alternative solutions for people's lives in the future. This makes Research and Development one of the important agendas in the transformation of BSD City as an integrated smart digital city . The existence of BSD City as a testbed for unmanned electric vehicles also manifests the readiness of this independent city for futuristic and green mobility ," he explained.

This trial will last for the next one year. Meanwhile, this project is actually a project that also involves the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Late last year, Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) announced that its joint venture with Macnica Inc. (Macnica). This joint venture utilizes support from JICA to conduct a proof-of-concept (PoC) self-driving pilot project in Bumi Serpong Damai(BSD) City.

JICA's support comes through its second plan to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in their efforts to grow, validate and commercialize businesses that aim to help achieve the United Nations' sustainable development goals (SDGs). JICA announced this second round of support in the 2020 fiscal year.

Macnica itself has promoted smart city management operations both in Japan and around the world. This company is a new business and an example of what Mitsubishi aims to build as a next-generation revenue driver.

Meanwhile, the electric car that was tested as a means of transportation in BSD City, was named Navya Arma.

The vehicle has an electric drive and battery pack with a capacity of 33 kWh that can last for 9 hours. The electric vehicle has dimensions of 4.7 mx 2.1 m with a passenger capacity of 15 people, with 11 sitting and 4 standing formations.

Arma is equipped with a variety of sensors ranging from the use of GPS (Global Positioning System), LIDAR (Light Radar) sensors combined with high resolution cameras for big data analysis, which will then be processed by a computer that has high specifications embedded in the car.

This unmanned electric transportation has the ability to accelerate, navigate, and can detect environmental conditions around it, including avoiding obstacles and making stops autonomously.

The general public can also try this autonomous electric vehicle by first registering and filling out a survey before and after enjoying the vehicle, through the OneSmile application. Easy access to transportation and mobility in BSD City will be an advantage that Sinar Mas Land to residents and the wider community.

Meanwhile, Navya herself managed to gain success in her home country. On December 22, 2017, two shuttles were successfully operated in the Marunouchi district of Naka Dori, Japan. Behind the trial there is also the name Softbank there.
