Based on records, Toyota, Suzuki, Honda, and Mitsubishi are ready to make large investments until 2024 to develop hybrid cars.
Sales of hybrid that combine the performance of two engines, namely gasoline and electricity, are still not widely available in Indonesia. Toyota still dominates the market by holding two-thirds of the market volume.
Based on documents owned by The Newbie News, Japanese manufacturers will speed up HEV production until 2024. The investment commitments come from Toyota, Suzuki, Honda, and Mitsubishi.
Toyota has an additional investment commitment of around IDR 28.3 trillion for the localization of five HEV and PHEV models including the Innova HEV version, while Suzuki has an additional investment of IDR 1.2 trillion for the Ertiga and XL7 Hybrids.
Furthermore, Honda is committed to investing in fresh funds of IDR 5.2 trillion until 2024 which will be used to develop the Brio and BRV HEV models. In addition, there is still Mitsubishi that has again added investment of up to Rp. 11.2 trillion, for the Xpander HEV and the localization of two new models in Indonesia.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) Corporate Affairs Director Bob Azam explained that his company has not yet assessed hybrid car sales.
"We will evaluate it later in the second semester of 2022," he explained.
