British Prime Minister (PM) Liz Truss mourns the death of Queen Elizabeth II . Truss said Queen Elizabeth II left a great legacy.
"Today the Queen passed away, as has happened for over a thousand years, to our new king, our new head of state, His Majesty King Charles III. With the King's family, we mourn the loss of his mother," Truss said speaking at Downing. Street, as reported by the BBC , Friday (9/9/2022).
"We offer him our loyalty and devotion, just as his mother served us for so long," he continued.
He finished his statement by saying it was "the end of the days of Elizabeth II ". Truss ended his statement by saying: "God save the King".
For information "God Save the Queen" or "God Save the King" is the national anthem of the United Kingdom and several Commonwealth countries. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom used "God Save the Queen".
Furthermore, Truss said that the entire community was saddened to hear the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II which he said was a big shock for the British nation and the world.
He described Queen Elizabeth as "the rock on which modern England was built", adding that "England is a great country today because of her."
Truss also said that Queen Elizabeth II was a personal inspiration to him as well as many Britons.
"His dedication to duty is an example for all of us," he said.
