Cryptocurrency prices continued to soar on Wednesday (20/7), with Bitcoin leading gains, rising 6% in the last 24 hours.

The surge in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency prices amid renewed investor confidence about the future of the economy and the long-awaited Ethereum Merger.

Citing CoinDesk , Bitcoin price exploded through the $23,000 threshold, up over $23,700 at one point, a level first seen in over 1 month.

Only, at 11.40 WIB, the price of the largest cryptocurrency based on market capitalization was at US $ 23,317.50. Even so, it still jumped 6.39% in the last 24 hours.

In one week, the price of Bitcoin jumped 20%.

However, Bitcoin's performance pales in comparison to Ethereum, which has skyrocketed 50% over the past seven days following the proposed Ethereum Merger, to $1,500.

“Crypto may find ground,” said Noah Hammond, CEO of AdvisorShares, on CoinDesk TV's First Mover Program . 

"It feels like we're in a price trough, bouncing off the bottom and then going up. And over the last month, Ethereum has been moving up significantly," he said.

"Positive momentum, which is good to see," added Hammond.

The dramatic rise of cryptocurrencies matched the sharp rise of the stock market on Tuesday (19/7). This is because the market continues to see the outstanding performance of issuers, especially in the financial services sector.

Investors have even found a boost in the possible US central bank's decision to raise interest rates 75 basis points versus a stronger 100 basis points.
