In 2022, Indonesia will be one of the representatives of developing countries and the only representative from Southeast Asia in the G20 international forum. One of Indonesia's later agendas will specifically emphasize the importance of an inclusive labor market for persons with disabilities as one of the priority issues that will be brought up. For this reason, the government is aggressively paying more attention to education for people with disabilities.
If we look at the data on the information system for persons with disabilities in March 2020, there were 197,582 persons with disabilities. Meanwhile, according to BPS data in 2018 access to education for people with disabilities is still relatively low, namely as many as 30.7% of people with disabilities who did not finish school to secondary education level.
Meanwhile, people with disabilities who managed to graduate from college were only 17.6% of the total people with disabilities. BPS also stated that employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the 2016-2019 period never grew more than 49%. In addition, based on the 2018 Education Statistics, the percentage of the population aged 5 years and over with disabilities who are still in school is only 5.48 percent. Persons with disabilities who have not or have never attended school at all reach 23.91 percent and people with disabilities who are no longer in school are 70.62 percent.
Seeing this condition, PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama Indonesia (Tugu Insurance) wants to contribute to improving education for people with disabilities by campaigning for the #Dare to Share More movement.
This time, Tugu Insurance is collaborating with the Mitra Netra Foundation in supporting Indonesian education for blind friends. According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2017, the number of blind people in Indonesia is 1.5% of the entire population of Indonesia, both blind and visually impaired. So it needs support from various parties to advance and improve the education of the blind in Indonesia. In this activity, Tugu Insurance invites Instagram followers to the Instagram account @mytdrive.id to show their concern, by giving likes and comments to the content of the #BeraniBerbagi Lagi Campaign for the Mitra Netra Foundation.
In this campaign, the number of likes and comments is converted into a donation from Tugu Insurance in the form of educational support tools which will be fostered by the Mitra Netra Foundation. Previously, last year, Tugu Insurance had also carried out the #BeraniBerbagi Lagi campaign on the @mytdrive account, with the implementation of social activities aimed at victims of traffic accidents and artificial limb craftsmen in Bandung, West Java.
It didn't take long, from the results of this campaign, Rudi Donardi as Secretary said that Tugu Insurance managed to collect a total likes and comments of 1,214 Corporate and 682 comments .
"Alhamdulillah, we did not expect that many people would care about our sharing, and we specifically aim for this donation to advance education for blind friends to make it easier for them to learn and gain knowledge," explained Rudi.
The donation was handed over to Aria Indrawati as Head of Public Relations of Mitra Netra Foundation, on 13 May 2022. Donations from Tugu Insurance were given in the form of educational support tools for friends at Mitra Netra Foundation such as braille paper, reglet writing instruments, counting tools and others.
In addition to donating learning support tools for Mitra Netra's friends, Tugu Insurance also hopes to collaborate again in the future by providing training on topics that match the needs of friends at Mitra Netra Foundation. Thus, the social impact that can be given to the community will be greater.
The #BeraniBerbagi Lagi campaign is part of various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities called "BAKTI Tugu". Through this program, Tugu Insurance is committed to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
