Indonesia Open 2022, Rionny Mainaky Highlights Causes of Minor Red and White Results

The Head of the Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI , Rionny Mainaky , assessed that fatigue was one of the factors that the Red and White representatives were unable to penetrate the semifinals of the Indonesia Open 2022 .

The furthest step for the representatives of the Red and White at the Indonesia Open 2022 was only to reach the quarter-finals.

Four Red representatives advanced to the quarter-finals: Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting .

Unfortunately, this quartet both lost to their respective opponents when they competed in the quarter-finals, Friday (17/6/2022).

The defeat of Pramudya/Jeremiah was the most dramatic. Jeremiah was injured at the end of the third game when the match was in favor of the Red and White pair.

As a result, Yere had to finish the match with a severe injury condition so they had to give up on the representatives of Malaysia, Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik.

These results are also a minor note for the host at the Indonesia Open.

For the first time since the Indonesia Open was held in 1982 or 40 years ago, none of the Red and White representatives made it to the semifinals.

Regarding the minor results at the Indonesia Open 2022, PBSI does not deny that this less qualified performance is influenced by the fatigue factor of the players.

"Overall until today we can say we failed. We are not disappointed, but we have to accept the result," said Rionny Mainaky in a PBSI release received by Kompas.com, Saturday (18/6/2022).

"We can't find excuses, but the players and coaches are really tired. Like Fajar, his focus is a bit unstable and has made a lot of mistakes lately," he said.

The BWF tournament itself is indeed busy in 2022. In addition to the single tournament, there is also the 2022 Thomas and Uber Cup which was held last May.

After the Indonesia Open 2022 , athletes are also directly faced with two tournaments in neighboring countries, namely the Malaysia Open and the Malaysia Masters.

Then, there is also the Singapore Open and the Taiwan Open which are close together.

Responding to the two upcoming Malaysian tournaments, Rionny Mainaky said that PBSI will not focus only on stamina.

All details will also be the focus of PBSI so that athletes can return to excel.

"Then we will compete in Malaysia, there will be recovery 2-3 days of Rionny Mainaky .

"In Indonesia Master and Indonesia Open, they only rest for 2-3 days. With the coach, the point is we evaluate it as a whole, not only from stamina," he explained.

Rionny Mainaky assessed that the pandemic conditions during the last two years might be another factor.

This also makes the players tend to be surprised by a series of hectic schedules.

Apart from that, he emphasized that the target given to the players in each tournament remained unchanged, namely to win the title.

"Every championship we have to maximize and the target is to win. We don't care about it," said Rionny Mainaky

"Fajar/Rian previously could enter the final (Indonesia Masters 2022) and that could be a record as well," he said.

"For me they have tried their best, but it must be controlled rest and others," said Rionny Mainaky about the performance of the players.
