At the end of every year, mothers in Indonesia will be celebrated. December 22, to be exact, is Mother's Day. The initiators of setting the date were Indonesian women warriors from Java and Sumatra.

At that time they held the First Indonesian Women's Congress . This inaugural meeting was held on 22 to 25 December 1928 in Yogyakarta. This congress became the forerunner of the next congress which in the end decided a day of remembrance for all mothers in Indonesia.

Precisely at the Third Indonesian Women's Congress on December 22, 1938, a decision was made to set a special date for commemorating Mother's Day.

President Soekarno officially set December 22 as Mother's Day through a Presidential Decree in 1959. Since then, every year the Indonesian state has officially celebrated Mother's Day every year.
