Just like some other social media such as Instagram and Twitter, TikTok also gives a blue tick as a marker that an account has been verified and is the official account of a person or group.

TikTok states, a verified badge means TikTok has confirmed that the account belongs to the user it represents.

This badge appears next to a user's account name in search results and profiles, as a blue tick .

TikTok emphasizes that if you don't have a badge on the right of the user but on another part of the profile, then the account is not a verified account . Also, verified badges are implemented only by TikTok and will always appear in the same place.

The purpose of the verified badge itself is an easy way for famous personalities to let users know they are viewing authentic content, and to build trust between the account and their followers.

Requirements to be Fulfilled

TikTok revealed, some of the requirements if an account wants to get a blue check mark verification are:

Active

Your account must be logged in the last six months

Authentic

Your account represents a real person, business or entity. Only one verification per business or person, except for language-specific accounts.

If you are a business, institution or entity, the email domain must represent your business during the verification approval process (example: @tiktok.com)

Complete

Your current account must be public and have a full profile with bio, name, profile photo and at least one video

Famous

TikTok reviews accounts featured on various news sources, and does not consider sponsored or paid press releases and media

Safe

Your account must have multi-factor authentication with verified email. This ensures that the account is held by the original owner and protected from malicious parties.

TikTok Can Remove Markers

In addition, users must also comply with TikTok's Terms of Service and guidelines to ensure the platform is safe for everyone, including verified users.

TikTok also confirms that it reserves the right to refuse or revoke verification of accounts that meet any of the above criteria, through artificial or non-genuine activities.

TikTok also mentions that they do not charge a fee if an account wants to apply for verification.

Some of the reasons for removing TikTok verification include:

  • The account was found to have been transferred to another owner which made the verification inauthentic
  • Username changed so account owner needs to reapply for verification
  • Account type changes between business, personal or institutional

TikTok may also remove verification from accounts found to be in gross or repeated violation of the Terms of Service on its platform.
