PUPR Claims to Have Built 278,725 Housing Units in the Second Quarter


The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) noted that until the second quarter of 2022, the achievement of housing development included in the One Million Houses Program (PSR) reached 278,725 units.

"The progress of house construction which is included in the One Million Houses Program as of May 31, 2022 has reached 278,725 units," said Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, in his statement, Monday (20/6/2022).

According to Iwan, he remains optimistic that the construction of houses for the community will continue to increase in line with national economic stability. In addition, the involvement of housing stakeholders such as local governments, developers, banks, communities and the private sector to support the implementation of the One Million Houses Program continues in the field.

The Million Houses Program, he added, is an acceleration and collaboration movement between the government and housing development actors in providing decent housing for the community. The One Million Houses Program was launched by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo in Ungaran Regency, Central Java on 29 April 2015 and is a tangible manifestation of the government's attention to the provision of adequate housing for all Indonesian people.

"We remain optimistic that the One Million Houses Program can achieve the development targets that have been set. The current achievement of the Million Houses Program consists of 220,878 housing units for low-income people (MBR) and 57,847 housing units for non-MBR," he explained.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Housing, Ministry of PUPR, the achievement of the One Million Houses Program for MBR houses reached 79% and 21% for non-MBR houses. For MBR houses there are 220,878 units, 34,000 units from housing construction carried out by the PUPR ministry, 49 related Ministries/Institutions, 1,680 local government units, 153,264 developers, 14 corporate CSR units, 31,871 community units.

Meanwhile, the total number of houses for non-MBR is 57,847 units, which came from the construction of houses carried out by the developer 39,576 units and the community 18,271 units. “People really need housing assistance from the government. We will continue to accelerate residential development for the community by mobilizing all stakeholders to continue to realize good housing infrastructure," he said.
