K Shanmugam in his statement said that UAS had been on the radar of Singapore authorities for a long time.

UAS is said to have influenced a number of Singaporeans to act radically.

"Somad is known to spread extremist teachings and unacceptable segregation in Singapore's multi-racial and multi-religious society," said Singapore's Minister of Home Affairs as quoted by Kompas.com .

The Minister of Home Affairs of Singapore also gave an example of the negative impact that UAS had on its citizens.

The 17-year-old believes that joining a militia group and dying as a suicide bomber will take him to heaven.

For the teenager, the suicide bombing action in defense of Islam will make him enter the group of jihadists.

For his radical thinking, Singapore said that the teenager had been detained by the Singapore Department of Homeland Security in January 2020.

Shanmugam said that the teenager was radically influenced by UAS' religious lectures on the YouTube platform.

The 63 -year -old minister highlighted UAS talks that said suicide bombings were the right thing to do for the Israeli -Palestinian conflict.

He stressed that the Singaporean authorities will take strict action and imprison anyone who spreads UAS teachings in Singapore.

"His teachings, language and rhetoric are clearly very divisive and unacceptable in Singapore," said Shanmugam.

"We are a country that maintains harmony between each other's races and religions," he continued.
