Some of my customers often complain about WiFi network problems on their laptops. There are even some who ask for service so that their laptops and computers return to normal.

The thing that they often complain about is the problem of a good network but is subject to access limits. It's been tampered with many times but it doesn't get better either, they finally gave up and took it to my service center.

The first time I checked the condition of the customer's laptop, I was also surprised why the laptop couldn't connect to my WiFi network. Actually, the reason is very simple and listed there, namely the connection has a limit or limited WiFi access.

Even though I myself was very sure that at that time no one was using the WiFi connection except me. In addition, the bandwidth is still a lot.

How does a Wifi Connection become Limited Access?

In a state that is still amazed, I tried to connect the WiFi to my smartphone and the result turned out to be working! Turns out there was no problem with my WiFi.

Finally I tried various ways to overcome the limited WiFi access on the customer's laptop. And I found a variety of very suitable ways to deal with this. What is it?

How to Overcome WiFi Limited Access on a Laptop

I suggest that you try all the ways I listed in order. If you have succeeded in certain steps, you do not need to complete it until the last tutorial.

Make sure to follow the tutorial in order, yes!

Restart Laptop

The first step you can do is to restart the laptop or computer. I want to make sure that this problem is not coming from a faulty laptop startup process. So it's better before the next step please restart your laptop.

After restarting your computer, please check internet protocol version 4 on your laptop. If you are using WiFi access, then the IP used must be DHCP alias automatic. To ensure this, please follow the tutorial below.

Change Internet Protocol version 4 to Automatic

  • Please click the WiFi in the lower right corner of your laptop.
  • The next step is to click Network & Internet Settings .
  • Then select Change Adapter Options .
  • Then several adapters will appear. Select Wireless Network Connection or Wi-Fi .
  • Right-click on the adapter and select Properties .
  • After that select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties again.
  • tab General , on the top option please select Obtain an IP address Automatically and on the bottom option, please select Obtain DNS Server address Automatically
  • The last step click OK to save.
  • Try reconnecting your WiFi
Important! If you feel that the Laptop is back to normal. So there is no need to proceed to the next step. And for those who are still having problems, there is no need to change the IP to static, just leave it blank aka DHCP according to the instructions above.

For those of you who are still experiencing limited access WiFi problems after following the tutorial above, it is mandatory to re-enable the adapter. Use it to refresh your network adapter.

Re-enable WiFi Adapter
  1. Please click the WiFi on your laptop.
  2. Then click on Network & Internet settings .
  3. Select Change Adapter options .
  4. Then several adapters will appear and select the Wireless Network Connection or WiFi adapter.
  5. Right-click on the adapter and select Disable .
  6. After that do nothing and wait up to three minutes.
  7. After waiting please right click on the same adapter and select Enable .
  8. Reconnect the laptop with your WiFi.
Generally, some of my customers are successful after arriving at this one step. By refreshing the adapter, it will indirectly refresh the existing network.

But for those of you who still haven't succeeded, there is still the next tutorial that you must try. After doing this last step I guarantee your laptop WiFi will return to normal.

Reinstall WiFi Driver
  1. On your desktop page, please look for the icon that says My Computer or This PC .
  2. Then right click on the icon and select Manage .
  3. Select Device Manager .
  4. Then select Network Adapter .
  5. After that, several adapters will appear that you are using, make sure you know the name of your WiFi adapter.
  6. WiFi adapters are usually written Realtek or Broadcom.
  7. Right-click on the adapter and select Uninstall . This process will not remove your WiFi adapter.
  8. Restart your computer and the WiFi adapter will appear like new again.
  9. Try to reconnect the laptop with available WiFi.
After reaching this stage, WiFi should be able to connect normally. However, if the limited access WiFi problem still exists, it means that there is only one reason, namely:

WiFi Connection Has Limit

The only reason why the above methods can't solve your problem is because of the network itself. In the world of networks, there is such a thing as a user limit, namely when the number of users has reached the maximum limit, new users will not be able to access the internet through the network.

If this is the case, you can contact the administrator to increase the number of users or users.
