The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has requested information from a team of Polri forensic doctors in the investigation into the death of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat alias J. Brigadier The forensic team received questions regarding the autopsy process and the cause of the wounds on Brigadier J.

"We are asking for information from the initial stage to the end, from the body entering the hospital, until the autopsy is completed," said Komnas HAM Commissioner Choirul Anam, at his office, Jakarta, Monday, July 25, 2022.

Anam said the Komnas HAM monitoring and investigation team checked the condition of the body before the autopsy and after the autopsy. According to Anam, one of the things that his team highlighted the most was the cause of the wounds on the body of Brigadier J.

The forensic team, he said, detailed the angle of the shot and the character of the gunshot wound. The character of the wound, he said, would provide important clues for the investigation carried out by his institution.

"We were shown the evidence and the logic behind the injury," he said.

Anam said they did not meet the police forensic team empty-handed. He said he had confirmed several findings while examining Brigadier J's family with a number of experts.

"We asked back and forth, nothing was late," said Anam.

"The National Police is committed to being open if we need further information from the forensic doctor team," said Anam.

The autopsy process for Joshua, who died at the residence of the non-active Head of the Profession and Security Division of the National Police, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, is suspected to be problematic. The family had stated that the autopsy was carried out without their consent. Yosua's younger brother, who is also a member of the National Police, was only presented with a letter of approval after the autopsy was completed.

Even though the family found a number of wounds on the 28-year-old man's body which were suspected not to have been shot. Therefore, the family also asked for a autopsy to be carried out by an independent team on Wednesday.
