Daihatsu said it was still monitoring the condition of Indonesia, even though a number of automotive manufacturers had started to launch electric car products.
Wuling Motors started the electric vehicle competition by introducing electric cars mini Meanwhile, Daihatsu which launched the same product in Japan last week, is still monitoring Indonesia's condition.
"We are still looking at how the public's demand for this type of electric vehicle will be," said Marketing & Customer Relations Division Head PT Astra International Daihatsu Sales Operation (AI-DSO) Hendrayadi Lastiyoso when met yesterday, Thursday (3/6/2022).
Hendra explained that although it will not be available in Indonesia yet, Daihatsu will definitely launch a mini electric car in time if public interest is seen.
In producing mini electric cars, Daihatsu, added Hendra, will cooperate with Toyota as the brand holder of the same group.
“We will definitely be together with Toyota. It doesn't work alone," he explained.
The Wuling mini electric car, which was introduced earlier this month, has not yet announced the name and price. The vehicle carries versatile compact design that makes it easy to use and drive, and easy for consumers to park in various urban traffic conditions.
Wuling Product Planning Danang Wiratmoko added that Wuling Mini EV was developed by Wuling Indonesia and Wuling in China through collaboration, starting from design, charging, to unit mileage.
“For charging this is very easy. Can be done at home. We want to emphasize that the Wuling EV is not too dependent on the SPKLU," said Danang, quoted from Antara, Wednesday (1/6/2022).
Previously, Dian emphasized that the price of the car, which is selling well in China, would suit Indonesian consumers.
The plan to bring a tiny electric car to Indonesia is inseparable from Wuling's success in selling the car in China. The best-selling Wuling Mini EV is also interesting from the sloping price.
