Ridwan Kamil's Son Eril's Body Found


eldest son Ridwan Kamil who had been lost by the current of the Aare River, Switzerland , Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz , was finally found on Wednesday (8/6) morning local time.

confirmation was announced by the Swiss police to CNNIndonesia.com on Thursday (9/6).

"On Wednesday (8/6) morning, one body was successfully evacuated at the Engehalde sluice gate, in Bern," the Swiss police statement said on the official website sent by email, in response to CNNIndonesia.com regarding the search for Eril.

"Forensic investigations revealed that the body was an Indonesian citizen who had been missing in the Aare River since Thursday, May 26, 2022. The 22-year-old man swam in the river and experienced an emergency condition. As a result, he drowned," the police statement continued.

Previously, Eril, as Emmeril is called, was reported missing in the current while swimming in the Aare River with her sister and friends.

Indonesian Ambassador Muliaman Hadad said the SAR team and local officials had stopped the search after 6 hours because it was already dark. The search continued Friday morning.

Muliaman said the Aare River is one of the famous tourist destinations in Switzerland. One of the longest rivers in Switzerland is indeed famous for having a fairly swift current. 

"The current of the river is quite swift and indeed many people swim there, especially in summer," said Muliaman.

RK's family has confirmed this tragedy. In a statement, RK's family, Elpi Nazmuzaman, said Eril was swimming with his sister and friends on Thursday (26/5) afternoon.

At that time the weather conditions were sunny, but the river current was quite swift. When he wanted to rise to the surface, it was reported that Eril was dragged by a fairly swift current. Eril also had time to get help from his friends but to no avail.

When the incident took place, RK was in England on official activities with a delegation from the West Java Provincial Government. RK immediately followed to Switzerland after receiving the news of the accident and has now met his family there.
