Shin Tae-yong is not satisfied even though Indonesia beats Timor Leste

The coach Indonesian National Team of the U-23 Shin Tae Yong , was not satisfied with the performance of his foster children when they defeated Timor Leste in the continued match of Group A men's soccer at the SEA Games 2021, Tuesday 10 May 2022

"We did win 4-1 but I'm not satisfied," Shin said after the match, quoted from PSSI's statement received in Jakarta.

The tactician from South Korea also hopes that his team can boost the quality of their game in the final two matches of Group A.

Indonesia needs a win from the match versus the Philippines, Friday (13/5) and Myanmar, Sunday (15/5), in order to qualify for the 2021 SEA Games semifinals.

"We have to work hard to improve performance," said Shin.

According to the South Korean national team coach at the 2018 World Cup, one of the reasons for the unstable quality of the Indonesia U-23 national team at the 2021 SEA Games is that the majority of the players have not experienced competitive matches for a long time after the 2021-2022 Indonesian League 1 finishes in March 2022.

"It makes our players rest for about two months (before finally appearing at the SEA Games 2021-ed). Their performance has decreased a bit," said Shin.

The Indonesian U-23 national team defeated Timor Leste with a score of 4-1 in the continuation of the 2021 SEA Games men's soccer Group A match at the Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho, Tuesday.

The four Indonesian goals were scored by Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan Sulaeman (two goals) and Fachruddin Aryanto. The opposing team reduced the position through Mouzinho de Lima.

These results have not changed Indonesia's position in fourth place in Group A, because it has only gotten three points from two matches. However, “Garuda Muda” still has a chance to qualify for the semifinals.

While Timor Leste is right under Indonesia or caretaker with a collection of zero points from three matches. That makes them certain not to qualify for the next phase.
