All matches in the group stage will use the format of the best two games aka "Best of 2" (BO2), where the winner will get points that will be used as a determinant to advance to the next round.

If there are two teams in the same group that have the same points, the organizers will hold a tiebreaker with the best one game format aka "Best of 1" (BO1).

Later, the two teams that are in the top position from each group, which of course have the most points, will qualify for the preliminary round (Playoff) which will be held on 19-20 May 2022.

The Playoff Round itself will carry the format of the best three games aka "Best of 3" (BO3), where the winners of Group A and Group B will be immediately placed in the upper bracket.

Meanwhile, the runners-up in Group A and Group B will be placed in the lowest tournament ladder ( lower bracket ).

Teams in the upper bracket have a distinct advantage, namely that they will go down to the lower bracket and have one chance to win a medal at the 2021 SEA Games, if they are defeated by their opponent.

On the other hand, the team in the lower bracket must win consecutively and will be eliminated if they lose to their opponent.

On the third day later, the two teams that managed to get successive wins in the upper and lower bracket ladders will meet in the Grand Final on May 20, 2022.

It is not yet known the detailed schedule and the format of the match that will be used in the Grand Final round.

However, if you look at the previous Mobile Legends tournaments, if in the Playoff round using the BO3 mechanism, the Grand Final will adopt the best five-match format aka "Best of 5" (BO5).
