Crystal Palace vs Manchester United Results: Lose 0-1, MU Plays in the Europa League Next Season

Manchester United had to lose to Crystal Palace in the last match of the 2021/2022 Premier League on Sunday (22/5/2022). Playing at Selhurst Park Stadium, they lost 0-1.

Even though they lost, they could still secure a ticket to the Europa League next season because they finished in sixth place. While West Ham below lost 1-3 to Brighton in the other match.

Crystal Palace looks like they want to end their win drought against the Red Devils at Selhurst Park Stadium. In the previous 12 matches, they only managed to draw 4 times and the rest lost.

But on the other hand, Manchester United need a win to secure a ticket to the Europa League next season. Ralf Rangnick's team also took the initiative to attack from the start of the match.

Their first golden opportunity was created through Edinson Cavani using the rebound from Fernandes' kick. Luckily, Vicente Guaita saved immediately by using his feet.

Furthermore, Manchester United dominated possession. But they often waste opportunities after being in the last third of the opponent's defense.

On the other hand, Crystal Palace, although often relying on counter-attacks, are more threatening to De Gea's goal. Sure enough, they could have scored first in the 37th minute.

Wilfried Zaha's individual skill past Diogo Dalot in the defensive line ended with a curling shot with his right foot. The ball pushed the ground towards the bottom left corner of De Gea's goal. The score 1-0 for Crystal Palace lasted until the end of the first half.

In the second half, Manchester United tried to continue to attack. However, Crystal Palace's defenders were very disciplined and firm.

The Red Devils remained with the dominant possession of the ball, which was 62 percent. They have also created four shots on target against Crystal Palace's two.

The referee gave a seven-minute chance for Manchester United to equalize in injury time. But still, their attackers can not use it into a goal. Manchester United still lost 0-1.
