Fatayat NU: It's idolatrous to think of spirit dolls as living babies

The general chairman of the Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Central Executive, Anggia Ermarini, thinks it is natural for someone to have a doll if it is only used as a means of playing. However, it is not permissible for someone to treat it like a spirit doll and treat it like a living baby.

He conveyed this in response to the trend of spirit dolls or spirit dolls among celebrities who adopt and care for them like their own children.

"Moreover, it is considered capable of granting our wishes, that is polytheism and is prohibited by religion," Anggia told reporters, Tuesday (4/1).

Anggia realizes that the needs of modern society today are very strange. One example is the presence of caring for spirit dolls like this child.

He considered that Muslims have their own means to 'confide in' and ask Allah SWT through worship. Not by means of dolls which in fact are inanimate objects.

"Creatures that don't live if they are treated like babies are not allowed, let alone considered granting or as a place to vent. If we pray in Islam, there is a means through prayer, for example to Allah. It's a means to vent too," said Anggia.

Separately, the chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Dadang Kahmad, assessed that Islamic teachings do not allow raising dolls as children. Except, the doll is just a mere hobby.

Dadang also stressed that the teachings of Islam have forbidden Muslims to believe in powers other than Allah SWT.

"Raising a child on a doll is also not allowed, except for ordinary dolls for fun," said Dadang.

It is known that the trend of spirit dolls has recently been introduced by presenter and designer Ivan Gunawan. Ivan adopted and took care of the doll like his own child.

Not only Ivan, several other celebrities such as Ruben Onsu and Lucinta Luna also have spirit dolls that they take care of to invite them to play and go for walks.

In fact, these celebrities helped to immortalize the togetherness with the doll through social media or a number of events.
