History of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia
the Ministry of Religion was established through Government Decree No. 1/SD dated January 3, 1946, to be precise in the Sjahrir II Cabinet.
Previously, the proposal for the establishment of the Ministry of Religion had actually been voiced in the Conference of the Research Body on Indonesian Independence Preparation Efforts (BPUPKI) on 11 July 1945 by Muhammad Yamin.
At that time the proposal for the formation of the Ministry of Religion was not considered urgent, so the Ministry of Religion had not yet been formed.
This disappointed the Islamic group because they felt they had sacrificed by eliminating the seven words in the Jakarta Charter which was a draft of the opening of the 1945 Constitution.
The seven words are "with the obligation to carry out Islamic law for its adherents".
Establishment of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia
The echo of the formation of the Ministry of Religion echoed again at the Plenary Session of the Central Indonesian National Committee (KNIP) which was held on 25-27 November 1945.
By acclamation the KNIP session accepted and approved the proposal for the formation of the Ministry of Religion. President Soekarno signaled to Vice President Mohammad Hatta about it.
Bung Hatta immediately stood up and said that the establishment of the Ministry of Religion received the government's attention.
broadcast by the government through the Radio Republik Indonesia broadcast. Haji Mohammad Rasjidi was appointed by President Soekarno as the First Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia.
